A simple app accompanies the game. It keeps score, makes sharing easy, and supports new formats as they appear. It reduces friction without adding noise.
DiscAim uses a lightweight web app, so there’s nothing to download from any app stores. Just open it in your browser, take a moment for a quick and simple sign-up, and start playing. It’s completely free.
You can open the app in a new tab and start using it for your games.
DiscAim game formats can look quite different from one another. But they all share one important idea: any game can be broken into smaller segments of play, and after each segment the result can be evaluated.
We gave these segments a common name — Snippet.
This simple concept allowed us to build a universal app that can support many different DiscAim formats, including ones that may appear in the future.
A Snippet is a completed segment of play within the DiscAim format space. After a snippet is played, players receive a certain number of points.
Depending on the format, snippets can take different forms, and the points awarded for a snippet may be positive, negative, or zero. A sequence of snippets may form a round, a time segment, or a full game.
The total number of snippets is not always fixed. In some formats players can decide it themselves before the game starts. The app makes it easy to adjust both the number of snippets and the number of players.
And, like many things in our club, we remain open to new ideas — including suggestions for how the app itself can evolve.
